We Just did a roof repair on a home in Natick ma today. The homeowner had us come out to remove an icedam and complained of a roof leak over the family room. We gave them the option not only removing ice dam but redoing the front section and laying down ice and watershield the proper way to prevent further leaking from ice dams. Most roofing systems are not meant to hold water (unless it’s an epdm rubber roofing system) but they should not leak when you have an ice dam if the ice and watershield is installed properly – Theirs of course was not installed right. you can see from the picutres below how we stripped the 30 foot section, reapplied ice and watershield and then applied new shingles that perfectly matched the existing layer.
